Acosta Europe won big at the 2020 Field Marketing & Brand Experience Awards, held virtually last Friday (29th January 2021), with six awards – including two Golds and a Silver for Agency of the Year.

Celebrating the best of the industry – from sales teams to events, contractual to tactical – the FMBE Awards showcase the innovation and quality in the previous year.

Acosta Europe was shortlisted and won in six categories – Field Data, Small Scale Campaign, Team of the Year, Brand Ambassador of the Year, Professional Agency Management and Agency of the Year.

Gold – Professional Agency Management

This year the Professional Agency Management category was all about how agencies responded to COVID-19. We had to demonstrate how we worked to keep our team safe, how we adjusted our business to cope with the impacts of the pandemic and how we continued to build and innovate over the period.

Justin Rigden, Group Operations Director, took part in a discussion to explain how we have responded to the pandemic so far. Discover more in the video below.


Gold – Small Scale Campaign of the Year
Flexforce – Nestlé Purina

Flexforce were awarded a Gold for their trial in Discounters with Nestlé Purina. Working in partnership with Nestlé Purina, the Flexforce team developed a strategy to demonstrate the value in targeting the Discounter channel through a tactical field team and worked to overcome some reservations from retailers. The trial was hugely successful and has led to Discounter coverage become more of a focus since.

Silver – Agency of the Year

Following on from a Bronze for Agency of the Year at the 2019 FMBE Awards, Reach received Silver in recognition of the fantastic evolution they have seen in the past 18 months. With Heineken and Nestlé Food joining the Reach family, along with technological advancements, it is an exciting time for everyone. This award recognises the quality of service across all areas of the company, including the other parts of the group.

Silver – Field Data
Reach – Heineken Ireland

Data is an integral part of the modern world and this category looks at innovative ways agencies use data in an innovative way for their field teams and clients. In Ireland, Reach introduced greater data use into their ways of working in a way that hadn’t been done previously in field sales on the Emerald Isle. The impact this has had is significant, with return on investment up and greater sales as a result.

Silver – Brand Ambassador of the Year
Bianca Chan – Reach – Heathrow Airport

Brand Ambassador of the Year is the most competitive category at the FMBE Awards and recognises individuals that go above and beyond for the brand they represent.

Bianca was awarded a Silver for her work with Heathrow Airport. She stood out through her innovative ways to help passengers, using her language skills and personalities to build relationships. Another key aspect was her drive to help retailers at the airport and ensure that VIPs were able to purchase the items they wanted, resulting in phenomenal sales figures.

Bronze – Team of the Year
Reach – Heineken UK

Since moving to Reach in 2019, the Heineken UK team have achieved fantastic results across Grocery and Convenience. With the majority of the team joining through the TUPE process, there was a lot of change that they adopted brilliantly. With fresh thinking and new approaches to solving challenges, the team has grown the partnership between Reach and Heineken. The Bronze award is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved with the team.
